Does coloring in today's graphics matter? You can ask this question and of course the answer may be today one. It all depends on the type of graphics in question. Today graphics can be varied. There is no such thing as the graphics of the present time, because in the market every graphic designer has his own style and his own feelings about the color scheme used, or the kind of graphics he creates.
The same applies to websites. Much depends on what a web site is about and how to create a website. We have to look at what we want to convey what is on the page and what we want ourselves to be. Then we can adequately present our view of the thing and select appropriate colors for the graphics.
So do not be afraid of colors and try to make everything at your own discretion.
